Pastor Don came to California in 1958 and graduated from Azusa Pacific in 1961. He married Rosa Lee Spuring in 1959, and next to finding Jesus...he thinks she is the greatest thing that has happened to him! They have four adult children and enjoy spending time with them and their families. Pastor Don was ordained by the Evangelical Covenant Church in 1978 and has blessed the Kingdom with extensive ministry including service to Azusa Pacific University, Oro Grande Community Church, Granada Hill Community Church, Village Covenant Church, Orange Covenant Church and Hermon Free Methodist Church before coming to CCF in 2003. He has also established two churches, one in Alta Loma and another in Diamond Bar. Pastor Don’s passion is to see people find Jesus, become obedient to His commandments, mature and become servants in His church, the body of Christ. As a result of this passion, there are 10 men and women currently serving in churches of the Free Methodist Church who found Christ, were trained in pastoral ministry and are serving as pastors in the Free Methodist Church.
I came to faith in Christ October 8, 1958 at Azusa Pacific University. I came from a non-Christian home after my journey took me from Michigan, where I graduated from High School, to the University of Arizona, Tucson, to Azusa where the Lord found me and changed my life through the Gospel of Christ.
I was ordained on October 8, 1961 at the Oro Grande Community Church in Oro Grande, California. I have served the Lord in Pastoral Ministry for 42 years in the following places:
Oro Grande Community Church, 4 years
Granada Hills Community Church, 5 years
Azusa Pacific University, 4 years
Village Covenant Church, Azusa, 6 ½ years
Rancho Cucamonga church plant, 2 years
Diamond Bar Covenant Church plant, 2 years
Orange Covenant Church, 6 ½ years
Hermon Free Methodist Church (L.A.), 10 ½ years
Cucamonga Christian Fellowship, since August 2003
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.
